The invention of the telescope by Hans Lippershy 400 years ago and the subsequent refinement by Galileo marked a turning point for the world.
The telescope is perhaps the single most important scientific instrument of all time and dealt a death blow to the Earth-centric cosmology.
Galileo however died a painful and lonely death after he was condmned by the church for ‘lessening’ earth’s importance.
However, the revolution had already begun and the true nature of the planets and stars was discovered and documented.
Today, the giant instruments like NASA’s Hubble Telescope continue the brilliant work this instrument sparked off centuries ago.
