British engineers have unveiled plans for the world’s first 1,000 mph (1600 kmph) car, a muscular streak of gunmetal and orange designed to not only break the world land speed record but to shatter it!
Apparently almost as difficult as getting the car – called Bloodhound SSC – going at top speeds is the process of slowing down. Airbrakes and two parachutes will be used to slow the Bloodhound to a rest after each run.
And since its unlikely a road will accomodate such a car the engineers are out there looking for huge flat spaces in South Africa and the salt-flats of Australia.
