Although it’s not publisicised all that much – India’s sending out a probe that will land on the moon and create an atlas and complete chemical mapping is historic.
After it’s launch from Sriharikota – Chandrayaan went around the earth several times and moved into lunar orbit this week. Sometime later this month the Moon Impact Probe will drop on the moon and explore the surface.
The United States, China and India are now planning to get manned missions to the moon by 2020 – with the Americans even planning to setup a permanent space station on one of the lunar poles!
If you’re in less than thirty you could still have a healthy vacation on the moon in your lifetime!
