It’s rather surprising that one of the fastest aircraft in the world is a 37-year-old Russian fighter jet.

The Mikoyan-Gurevich MiG-25, which first entered service in 1970 (prototypes were flown way back in 1964), features giant turbojet engines and vacuum-tube electronics. This aircraft is capable of reaching Mach 3.2, but results in the total destruction of its engines!
