Don’t ruin your style with the wrong socks

Too many men ruin perfect outfits by wearing the wrong kind of socks. Which is why it’s important to know the rights and wrongs about socks:
Don’t roll or fold socks
Rolling your socks down around your ankles looks outright sloppy and it’s something that needs to be avoided. Even folded socks are mostly unacceptable. As far as possible let the socks
cover as much of your legs as possible.
Formal shoes require formal socks
If you’re going to wear formal shoes – black or white, don’t slip into athletic socks. Whatever their color athletic socks do not go with dress shoes. This is basically because these are usually bulkier than dress socks and are made of heavier material that causes them to bunch out over dress shoes. Formal socks are also easier when you’re stuffing your feet into formal shoes.
Match your socks with your pants
The color of your socks should be dictated by the color of your pants and not by the shade of your shoes. Therefore black pants should obviously go with black socks and brown pants with brown socks. Why this is important is because when you sit down and your socks are exposed, socks that coordinate with your pants make your outfit appear more fluid. Also, if you need to take off your shoes you still remain co-ordinated.
White socks are meant for sports
Don’t ever wear white socks unless you’re out there playing cricket, tennis or whatever else that gets you your daily exercise. White is the right color for the gym or for running as well. |
