As it turns out, many of the words you use every day were invented by people who had wieners, balls and asses on the brain. Here’s an extract from Cracked’s list of words with x-rated origins.

Seminar:
Meaning: A group of experts speaking to an audience.
Origin: Seminar comes from the Latin term, “Seminis” which means semen. This is used figuratively because it represents a spawning ground for ideas.

Hysteria:
Meaning: An over emotional reaction, chaos.
Origin: The term comes from the Greek “Hystera,” which means womb or ovary. Back in the Victorian era, it was a nervous condition for females caused by their lady-parts – which was later ‘explained’ as an orgasm.

Fundamental:
Meaning: Basic, or pertaining to, the foundation.
Origin: Fundamental refers to the Latin, “Fundamentum,” which meant ass. That being the body’s foundation gave origins to it’s present day meaning.
